Bristol Churches Shelter

Bristol Churches Shelter

Bristol Churches Shelter (BCS) is a partnership of churches, governed by inHope, which provides accommodation, food and support for people who are rough sleeping, through the coldest months of the year.

Over the winter months, BCS books a 9-bed guest house in Bristol, providing a safe and supportive environment for individuals experiencing homelessness. Our aim is to support each guest, understand their individual circumstances, and help them find stable accommodation.

BCS is a friendly, peaceful space where guests are treated with dignity and respect. We work alongside them to help rebuild their lives, offering support to move forward when they leave the shelter.

Last winter, we supported 31 guests at the shelter. Of these, 26 successfully moved on to further accommodation when they left.

Key Features include:

  • Guests have 24 hr access to the shelter
  • Guests receive a warm comfortable room
  • 9 single occupancy rooms
  • Average stay is 1-2 months
  • Continued support from the referral agencies: St Mungo’s and Bristol Hospitality Network.
  • Regular support from staff
  • Support from Bristol City Council
  • 3 meals a day
  • Shower and laundry facilities

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – Join Us in Making a Difference

BCS relies on the incredible support of volunteers, many from the local Church community. Without them, this vital work wouldn’t be possible.

We are currently looking for more Churches and individuals to join us in this project. BCS is a powerful way for you or your Church to make a real, lasting difference in the lives of people experiencing homelessness in Bristol.

We offer full support and training to all volunteers, and there are several meaningful ways to get involved:

  • Cover a mealtime shift (12–2pm or 6:30–9:30pm)
  • Cook meals for our guests
  • Donate financially to support the running of the shelter
  • Pray for the shelter and those we serve

Whether you’re able to offer time, resources, or prayer, your contribution is deeply valued and can help change lives.

Get involved today and be part of something life-changing.
