I was promised a spectacular display of textile art, and this exhibition really didn’t disappoint. It’s small, so it’s very easy to fit into your day. If you work in town, it’s perfectly placed just opposite the Victoria Rooms for a lunch time stroll, picking up a bite to eat on Park Street on the way. Especially if the day is as beautiful as today – it’s Bristol at her best. Even if you’re not looking for something religious, the vibrant colours and intricate textiles are without a doubt worth a visit. The staff running it are friendly, smiley and happy to chat if you want to, but just as happy to let you enjoy the exhibition in your own time.
The exhibition is made up of a series of fabric creations, each representing one of the seven days of biblical Creation. Alongside each piece, the artist offers a short reflection on what the work portrays, offering you insight into her choice of imagery and why she’s chosen to depict each day in this particular way.
They have a guide for children as well, in case there are any kids in tow or aspiring textile artists out there.
It can be viewed at Victoria Methodist Church, Whiteladies Road, Bristol BS8 1NU until 4th October 2025.
